CAMBRIDGE CROWN TUSCAN MOUNT VERNON
This scarce Cambridge Mount Vernon pattern open salt is done it their prized Crown Tuscan color which is a light creamy pink. Oval and shaped in a trophy style it is decorated with gold gilt on the scalloped rim, handles and base. It measures 4-3/8" long from handle tip to handle tip, 1-7/8" wide and 2-3/8" high. It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks or fleabites to the glass. The gold gilt is almost totally absent from the handles and the base however is present on most of the scalloped rim.

salt joan382 NORITAKE LUSTERWARE OPEN SALT & PEPPER SET
In the 1920�s, these cute little salt and pepper sets where made by several companies, Noritake being one of them. This particular set is made of their orange/gold lusterware paint accented with green and white checks that extend around the tops of the open salt and pepper. They are further embellished with gold gilt around the rim of the salt and on the attached pepper top. The salt measures 1-1/2" in diameter by 1-3/8" high. The pepper is 2-5/8" high. They are marked "JAPAN" in green and both are in mint condition with no chips, cracks or repairs.

salt joan384 TASHIRO SHOTEN LTD. LUSTERWARE 5 PC. CONDIMENT SET
This 5 piece condiment set is done in the traditional lusterware colors of iridescent orange/gold and blue with black accents. The tray is round in shape, has a handle and ruffled boarder, and three indented circles that support the salt, mustard and open salt. The mustard has two handles and a lid with an opening for a spoon. The pepper is all one piece and has a fill hole in the bottom. The open salt is round and has scalloped rim trimmed in black. The set may possibly be a marriage, although I purchased them altogether as a complete set and the salt and pepper fit perfectly into the tray indentations. The tray and mustard have a red marker�s mark of an elephant head with an "A" under its trunk and "Made in Japan" thus identifying them as being made by Tashiro Shoten Ltd., that went out of business in 1954. The salt has "JAPAN" in red and the pepper is unmarked. All pieces are in excellent condition with no chips, cracks or repairs.

salt joan392 LOT #2 - THREE LUSTERWARE OPEN SALTS
This lot of three open salts is done in traditional Noritake lusterware shades of orange/gold and blue. The pedestal salt on the left has the orange/gold exterior and an iridescent pearl white interior with a black rim. It does have a makers mark on the bottom, but I cannot make out what it says. The center trencher salt, that is marked "JHR" in a circle and STOUFFER, is orange/gold inside and out. The third salt on the right has an orange/gold exterior, blue interior and a black rim and is marked "Japan" in blue. All three are in excellent condition with no chips, cracks or repairs. The trencher salt has a tiny bit of the orange paint rubbed off on the rim, but is under the glaze and therefore came that way from the manufacturer and did not occur as a result of use or wear.

salt joan393 COBALT BLUE & WHITE ORIENTAL OPEN SALT W/RABBIT
This darling little oriental piece might actually be a tiny condiment bowl but it sure does fit in nicely in a salt collection. Square in shape, with a round bowl in the center, it is made of glossy white pottery that is painted with cobalt blue accents of flowers, circles and oriental characters. The highlight is an adorable little bunny who sits in the bottom of the bowl. The outside dimensions of the salt measure 2-7/8" square by 1" high, while the inside bowl measures 2-1/4" in diameter. The bottom of the salt is also marked with blue oriental characters and it is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks or repairs.

salt joan405 L. G. WRIGHT AMBER PEDESTAL MASTER/TABLE OPEN SALT
This round master/table sized pedestal open salt is a pretty shade of honey amber glass. Made by L. G. Wright Glass Company this heavy glass piece has a ribbed bowl that is finished off with a 1/4" wide rounded lip. The base of the pedestal is concave and carries the L. G. Wright Glass Company�s mark of a "W" in a circle. Although considered a recent production being made in the 1960s and 1970s, they seem to be harder to find in circulation. It measures 2-3/4" in diameter, 2-1/4" high and is in mint condition with no chips, cracks or fleabites.

MOLD BLOWN COBALT BLUE ART GLASS OPEN SALT
This mold blown art glass open salt is a pretty shade of cobalt blue and is made of delicate lighter weight glass. It has eight ruffles around its graceful rim and stands on a tiny elevated round base. Measuring 3/4" high, 2-3/4" in diameter, has a polished base and is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks or fleabites. It does, however, have one tiny pinpoint bubble close to the rim on one of the ruffles and is mentioned for accuracy.

salt joan412 GOLD WASHED APPLE SHAPED SACCHARIN HOLDER W/TONGS
Some may call this a lidded open salt but these fancy little hinged bowls were made in the early 1950�s when Saccharin tablets became a popular substitute for sugar. Many companies "repurposed" their open salts by attaching them to gold washed metal stands and adding lids and tongs to pick up the tablets. This one however has no relationship to an open salt other than many of us "salters" also have them in our collections, so I thought I would offer it for sale. This holder is shaped like a tiny apple with a stem on top and rests on three feet made of three apple leaves each. It is gold washed heavy metal and has a hinged lid. It comes with a tiny set of tongs, measures 1-1/8" to the top of the stem, 1-1/4" in diameter and is in excellent condition with no loss of gold wash. Really a cute little piece!!!
